Best features
Christine: I've never tried something like this before and imagined it would be more complicated. I couldn't be simpler - lie down and listen! It's a great excuse to have 45 minutes peace during the day. I really was able to switch off and after a couple of listens did feel more relaxed in myself. I was surprised how I would return to consciousness towards the end not really realising how well I'd drifted off.
Anna: The CD is immensely calming and soothing. Just the right length (at 25 minutes) to be able to relax but not too long to take up a huge chunk of your time.
Worst features
Christine: Nothing really related to the CD, all that relaxation I found can bring up things I don't generally have time to think about but I think that's part of it - having the thoughts and worries then letting them go. They are better off gone.
Anna: I was initially surprised how hard it was for me to find the time to sit down and listen to the CD (particularly with a 2 year old and 4 year old about!). But this made me think about how important it was for me to have some rest time in my pregnancy, so having the CD was only beneficial because it made me take time out for myself.
Practicality
Christine: It's a CD which I downloaded on to my Ipod, which means I can take it anywhere I can find to lie down quietly. It's not always easy to get permission to disappear for 45 mins in the middle of the day with a toddler in tow (best time being when he has his sleep but then there's not the washing up etc) but the product it's self provides no hindrance!
Anna: Obviously you can't listen to it whilst driving! Rather than attend a class, this you can do at home whenever it is convenient for you - perfect.
Value for money
Christine: As far as I'm aware, it's fairly widely understood that going into Labour with a relaxed and confident state of mind is as effective as any epidural, so if you are anxious then I would say this is definitely value for money. Anyone worried about giving birth, especially if their first one was long and traumatic, which mine wasn't (I worked hard on the relaxed and confidence the first time round), I would recommend this.
Anna: I think it is good value for money, you can listen to it again and again. The potential benefits for your health and that of your baby really can't have a price put on them. Via mail order, the postage costs are very fair.
Visual appeal
Christine: Not impressed, it didn't say to me 'buy me' but I would imagine this is something people order rather than pick up in WHSmiths.
Anna: The box look smart and practical, not overloaded with information but has some peaceful images. It fits with the contents of the CD.
